I don’t sleep much.  Too much running back and forth across state lines all day every day.

Sleep is for the weak.

Catnaps, however, are for every single spare moment I can find.

I do a lot of napping on trains, on benches waiting for trains (I swear I really am not homeless), and I even doze standing up as I wait for trains.

That’s where I ran into a smidge of trouble recently.

I was doing my doze/wait thing at the Park Street Station for the Red Line, in full commuter mode, blocking out the world with my iPod, standing near the yellow caution line.

(NOTE TO SELF: Don’t do that again. Seriously, don’t do it. It’s just asking for trouble.)

Unbeknownst to myself, a blind man was making his way towards me using one of those poles they swing back and forth so they know where things are (Sorry, but I don’t know what they are actually called).

Suffice to say, he found me, and rather hard at that.

Which, of course, scared the shit out of me. Luckily, I jumped backwards and not forwards!

He just said, “Excuse me,” and went on his merry way.

So, yeah…I got smacked by a blindman.

I’m not even safe from the disabled!
