For Educators
e-Visits
A completely virtual author visit experience for schools and libraries!
An e-visit is a collection of videos (on average about 5-10 minutes each) of me discussing topics such as the characters in my books, what inspired the story, the magic system, and the writing process, and more. In addition, there are read-alouds, tie-in activities, and resources. The e-visits are designed to be flexible enough to use in a classroom in whatever way works best for a teacher or librarian and are particularly well-suited to reading the book with a group.
I’m currently offering e-visits for three of my books: A BREATH OF MISCHIEF, SHADOW WEAVER, and THE STAR SHEPHERD (which includes extra content from my co-author & illustrator Dan Haring!). An e-visit costs $50 for a year of access, and I’m also offering an e-visit Plus for $150 which includes a live, virtual Q&A with your group and a signed copy of the book.

What Educators Are Saying!
I love how much information this covers. The flexibility to utilize it in sections is a huge bonus! I’m so impressed by the quality and depth—yet age appropriateness—that is contained within all aspects of this e-visit! There is something for everyone!
I like that I can use it at my own pace. That I don’t have the pressure of a live visit but I can still connect my students to the author!

In-Person Visits
I’d love to talk to your teens and tweens about writing, and middle grade and young adult literature! Like my novels my presentations are geared toward young readers in grades 4 through 12. However, I’m also available to speak to adult groups of teachers, librarians, and writers. Presentations are about an hour long, but can be made longer or shorter to meet the needs of your group.
MarcyKate prepared and facilitated a fabulous presentation about the writing process and character development, and answered all of the students’ questions. She was warm, friendly, patient, and sent a powerful message about grit when she told them about how much hard work and persistence it takes to “make it” in the published author’s world. We would welcome her back anytime!

Virtual Visits
Technology is a beautiful thing, and Skype/Zoom/Google Meet etc allow me to chat with students from across the country and around the globe. Virtual visits usually last 20-30 minutes and center around Q&A. If you’d like, I can do a brief 5-10 minute talk at the beginning on a topic of your choice. Please note that virtual visits do need to be booked a few weeks in advance.
