Birthday Bash Giveaway 2017!

Oh hey, guess what? It’s MAY. My favorite month for a variety of reasons, but it never hurts that it also contains my birthday (which happens to be today! Yay!). 2017 has been a largely weird and unpleasant year so far for the world, but it’s still important to celebrate the little things that make you happy (otherwise life might get overwhelmingly depressing).

So, since it’s become an annual tradition, I’m celebrating my birthday here on the blog! And what’s a party without your friends? And gifts?

This year, I’m giving away some fabulous new books by my awesome critique partners! Enter the raffle below to win a new hardcover of Mindy McGinnis’s riveting fantasy GIVEN TO THE SEA or Riley Redgate’s gender-bending a capella-themed NOTEWORTHY! I’m also throwing a signed ARC* of my next book SHADOW WEAVER into the mix just for fun 🙂

The giveaway will run from today through midnight EST Monday May 22, 2017 and is open internationally. One winner will be selected for each prize. So, grab a slice of cake, put on a party hat, and enter to win. Good luck! 🙂

*Please note: The SHADOW WEAVER ARC will be mailed to the winner once I’ve received my ARCs. It may be a few weeks, but it will get there, I promise!

Birthday Bash Giveaway 2016!

May is hands down my favorite month of the year. It’s warm! It’s sunny! And, today, it’s my birthday! (I don’t care how old I get–I’m pretty darn fond of life, so I like to celebrate it :P)

I’m a big fan of birthdays, and I particularly enjoy parties. And what’s a party without your friends? And gifts?

It’s become an annual tradition, so this year, I’m giving away two recent books from some of my awesome critique partners: A MADNESS SO DISCREET by Mindy McGinnis (which just won an Edgar Award!!!) and SEVEN WAYS WE LIE by Riley Redgate. If you haven’t read them yet, you are majorly missing out (so you really should enter for a chance to win. Just saying!).

And as an added bonus, I’ll also be giving away a signed set of MONSTROUS and RAVENOUS plus a raccowl frankenplushie.

The giveaway will run from today through midnight Sunday May 22, 2016 and is open internationally. One winner will be selected for each prize. So, grab a slice of cake, put on a party hat, and enter to win. Good luck! 🙂

Birthday Bash + Giveaway 2015!

Hey it’s that time of year again – spring! Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and … it’s my birthday! And I’ve already got the BEST birthday present this week in the form of the gorgeous cover artwork of my next book, RAVENOUS (can’t share until later in June, but trust me it’s beautiful and so perfect for the book!!!).

I kind of love birthdays and parties and cake and gifts, and especially sharing those things with my friends. So to celebrate, I’m giving away some presents (because, really, who doesn’t love presents?)!

Two of my fabulous author friends happen to have books coming out in a few months (on the same day, no less – October 6), and a preorder of each is up for grabs: SPINNING STARLIGHT by RC Lewis and A MADNESS SO DISCREET by Mindy McGinnis. I’ve read them, they’re AMAZING, and you’ll get your own copy** of one as soon it releases if you win the drawing!

As an added bonus, this year I’m throwing a signed copy of MONSTROUS and a sperrier* into the mix as well. Because hey, I enjoy channeling my inner Dr. Frankenstein and why not, right?

The giveaway will run from today through Sunday May 24, 2015 and is open internationally. One winner will be selected for each prize. So, have some cake and enter to win! 🙂

And finally, in true MK birthday tradition, here’s a muppet birthday video for your viewing pleasure (did you hear there will be a new Muppets Show next year???? SO EXCITED!):

*Each sperrier is unique and handmade by me, so it may not look exactly as pictured. It’ll still be cute though!

**These are not ARCs, but the final editions. Yes, you have to wait a few months to have them in hand, but they are totally worth it, I promise!

Singing Pugs + Presents = My Birthday!

It’s that time of year again – flowers are blooming, everything is green, and I get another year older. I’m rather fond of being alive, so I think this is a very happy thing to celebrate!

If you’ve been following my blog, you might recall that last year Mr. MK gave me the last present I’ll be getting for the next 30 years (29 more to go – woohoo!) AKA, a house. Needless to say, I don’t expect any big gifts today. Besides, I’ve had a rocking good year and I even got my first official edit letter for MONSTROUS the other day which is pretty much the best present I could ask for. (Yes, it’s quite long, but it’s awesome. Did I mention it’s amazing? And that I adore my editor, and my agent for getting my book in said editor’s hands? I’m ridiculously lucky!)

So I’ve been thinking. One of the things that launched the awesome from Birthday 2012 to now was a blog contest (the Writers Voice! TEAMCUPIDSLC!). I’m not running a contest at the moment, but I’m a big fan of them and one thing many have in common is the dreaded query letter. It must be shiny and chock full of amazing for these contests, and well, they’re called “dreaded” for a reason. Sometimes a fresh pair of unbiased eyes can help make that puppy sing.

Hence, my gift to one of YOU is a critique of your query letter and your first 250  words to help get your contest submission package all sparkly!

Oh, and speaking of puppies singing, here you go!

The Obligatory Birthday Post: The Best Presents Ever. And Muppets.

Today is my birthday and this year Mr. MK outdid himself.

He bought me a house.

Best. Present. EVER.

And it happens to be PERFECT and MOVE-IN READY. <3

(Of course, this also means I won’t be getting any more birthday presents for the next thirty years…and technically WE bought a house together, but that’s just details :P)

Also in the awesome of this  week? I’m officially joining the gang over at the From the Write Angle Blog and my debut post goes up TODAY! Come on over and say hi 🙂 I’ve known these folks for a couple of years now and they’re some of the sharpest writers out there, so I’m pretty darn delighted about this.

And of course, this week also marks the start of the agent judging round of The Writers Voice. I’m on #TeamCupidsLC and it should be lots of fun – certainly has been so far!

This next bit is becoming a tradition of sorts – but really what would a birthday be (for me) without the Muppets? Enjoy! (AND FOR THE LOVE TURN ON THE CAPTIONS! Teehee!)
