2000-2010 In a Very Tiny Nutshell

It’s a little daunting to look back, realizing an entire decade has passed in a flash. It’s been quite a trip, convoluted at times, but everything happens for a reason. Some years there were lots of accomplishments (including this one!), others not so much.

Here’s a quick look back at the last ten years of my life:

2000: Half-way through college and loving it!

2001: Built my first website to host the music I was writing. Love of all things internet solidified.

2002: Graduated from Hampshire College with a full opera under my belt. Felt like I could conquer the world. Commenced job hunt. Obtained first car of my own and first cell phone.

2003: Met future husband, Jay. Accepted position working for theatre company in Boston. Thus began 4 long years of mind-numbing commuting.

2004: Temporary theatre company job ended. Week later, obtained job working for Boston Symphony. Fate of commuting appeared permanently sealed.

2005: Decided to take career to next level and enrolled in Arts Administration Master’s program at Boston University. Realized just how perfect this field is for me and that I would not sleep for the next 2.5 years.

2006: Visited London for Comparative Culture course. Craziest week ever. Then Jay and I broke up. Went on first ever dating spree (about time!)

2007: Jay and I got back together. Three days later, I moved in. Three months later, we got a pug/trial baby. Not long after, I got a diamond :). My precioussssssss . . .

2008: Got married. In a castle. *grin*

2009: First time being laid off from a job, but I wrote 3 novels. Not a bad year over all!

I have big plans for 2010. I’m encouraged by my successes and I intend to write another 3 novels this year (I know this pace may be hard to keep up, but I’m going to try). Plus, only one of the novels I completed is polished at present and a lot of hard work is in store to make the other two equally shiny. But it’s the fun sort of work and I can’t wait to get started!
